Nigeria defender Sunday Adetunji says he is very happy to make a return to the Super Eagles fold for Tuesday's international friendly against Liberia.
The Enyimba man was among the five Nigeria Professional Football League players on the 18-man list of Gernot Rohr for the warm-up clash with the Lone Stars.
Adetunji missed out of the 2018 Wafu Cup and 2018 African Nations Championship due to injury before joining the People Elephants from Abia Warriors.
Having inspired Enyimba to the quarter-final of the Caf Confederation Cup, the 23-year-old said he is ready to fight for a regular place on Gernot Rohr's squad.
“It’s with great joy that I’ll rejoin the Super Eagles to represent my country and to meet up with my team-mates again,” Adetunji told Goal.
“I appreciate the opportunity offered me again by the Super Eagles coaching crew, especially coach Gernot Rohr to test myself. That shows he has seen some qualities in me.
“I am excited and looking forward to giving my best and proving my worth at every given time - either in training or if given the chance to play against Liberia.”
The former Shooting Stars star is expected to join the Super Eagles in Lagos on Monday afternoon before their trip to Monrovia for the all-West African tie.
