Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has opened up about reports linking him with the vacant Kaizer Chiefs post.
Baxter has been heavily linked with a possible return to Naturena as Steve Komphela’s successor who resigned in April this year.
Although he remains contracted with the South African Football Association (Safa), the former SuperSport United boss said a coach must also do introspection before accepting a lucrative coaching contract.
With the Soweto giants having already begun with their pre-season preperations ahead of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, they are yet to announce a new coach.
Baxter, Free State Stars’ Luc Eymael and former Ghana coach Avram Grant are some of the names bandied about to takeover the hot seat at Amakhosi.

However, Safa recenty refuted claims that the Bafana coach is talking to the Glamour Boys despite numerous reports suggesting that may be the case.
After leading Chiefs to two PSL, MTN8 Cup and Nedbank Cup titles between 2012 and 2015, Baxter was replaced by Komphela.
But the former Bafana skipper failed to replicate Baxter’s run when it came to winning trophies.
Speaking to Y2TV, Baxter revealed that club's need to ask the right questions when appointing a new coach.
“I think when clubs choose their coaches, many times they don’t think ‘is that a coach who can coach at this club?’ They ask ‘is that a good coach?,” Baxter told Y2TV.
“And I think also the coaches don’t say ‘am I an appropriate coach for that club’, because they’re so flattered they just take the job,” he continued.
“The coach needs to ask himself; ‘Can I deal with the pressure, can I produce a brand of football the people want to see and can I win things?,” said Baxter.
“Don’t just think ‘Can I pick up that cheque at the end of the month?’, because that’s doomed to failure,” explained the boss.
“And the club needs to look at the same thing; ‘Is this coach one that will handle the pressure, will handle these big players, will he be able to produce younger players? Will he be able to give us trophies?,” Baxter concluded.
