South Africa vs Nigeria: TV channel, live stream, squad news & preview

South Africa suffered an unpredicted setback in their goal of qualifying for the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations in October as they were held to a 0-0 draw to already eliminated Seychelles.

And Bafana Bafana must overcome Nigeria in Johannesburg if they are to stand a chance of making their ninth appearance at the biennial African football showpiece.

For Nigeria, they are out for revenge after being stunned 2-0 by Stuart Baxter’s men in Uyo back in June 2017. A win would see them earn qualification, while even a draw would suit the three-time African champions as it would leave them needing only to get a draw against out-of-form Seychelles at home.

Victory for Nigeria will set them up nicely into the crunch game against the Mediterranean Knights in Sfax and that would pile the pressure on Libya.

Match Preview

Ahmed Musa Nigeria Iceland World Cup 2018

After losing 2-0 in the opening game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, Nigeria have regrouped strongly to stay as Group E leaders.

The qualification has been so kind to them, winning their last three games and scoring ten goals in the process – leaving South Africa and Libya to play catch up.

They know that if they win against Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg, they will be propelled into the Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Ahead of the match in Johannesburg, Gernot Rohr’s men have been hampered by and a crippling injury list with the absence of Francis Uzoho, Odion Ighalo and Wilfred Ndidid, but they have a bullish mindset.

For Stuart Baxter’s men, their task is tougher as they must beat Nigeria at home before aiming at getting a result in Libya to guarantee qualification.

They will be counting on home support and massive home support to clip the wings of the Super Eagles like they did in the first leg in Uyo.
