Schlupp on target in Crystal Palace's defeat to West Ham United

Ghana defender Jeffrey Schlupp was on target when Crystal Palace succumbed to a 3-2 away defeat against West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 25-year-old came on for Patrick van Aanholt on 55th minute and he didn't disappoint, as his surging runs and crosses, coupled with his goal gave Roy Hodgson's men a glimmer of hope to avoid a back-to-back defeat.

James McArthur shot Palace into the lead by the sixth minute but Robert Snodgrass pulled even for the Hammers three minutes after the break.

Former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez 'Chicarito' made it 2-1 for the hosts by the 62nd minute with a simple tap in from Felipe Anderson's rebound off a free-kick, before Anderson doubled their advantage three minutes later with a screamer.

Schlupp out-jumped his marker by the 76th minute to head in a teasing cross from Max Meyer to reduce the deficit for Palace, pushing the game to the wire.

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was also brought on for McArthur, however, West Ham's players kept their cool at the back and held on to bag another priceless three points in their quest to avoid relegation.

Schlupp has now scored two goals after making 14 league appearances including six starts and has lasted 608 minutes on the field.

Palace sit 16th on the log with 12 points, two points above safety. They will host Leicester City next weekend.
