Mamelodi Sundowns will play their Caf Super Cup fixture three days after flying to East London as the PSL rejected their postponement request

Mamelodi Sundowns' request to postpone a midweek fixture has been rejected by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Pitso Mosimane’s men hoped for some assistance from the PSL as they are scheduled to compete in the Caf Super Cup only three days later.

The league fixture which is to be played against Chippa United on 14 February will see Sundowns travelling to East London.

The Brazilians will then return to Pretoria as the game on Saturday 18 February will be hosted at the Lucas Masterpiece Moripe Stadium.

The 2016/2017 schedule has already been massively congested with the Olympic break, Sundowns exploits in the Caf Champions League and the league breaking for a recess due to the African Nations Cup.

The PSL is under pressure to complete the league season. The current South African football season has been extended to the 24th of June.

The PSL, however, claimed that they are in constant contact with all clubs regarding the hectic schedule.

‘‘Everybody understands the situation and they are aware of the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves facing this season‚” the PSL's media officer Lux September told Times Media.

The Chloorkop club by virtue of having won the Champions league will face off against DRC club TP Mazembe.

Mazembe beat Mo Bejaia in the final of the Caf Confederations Cup to qualify for the Super Cup.

The club owned by billionaire Moises Katumbi has won all three of their appearances in the Super Cup.

If Sundowns win this once off showpiece they will pocket R1.3 million.
