Former Ghana midfielder Yaw Preko believes success is around the corner for Asamoah Gyan who sealed a two-year deal as a free agent with Turkish side Kayserispor last.
Gyan, 31, saw his contract with Chinese side Shanghai SIPG come to an end last month. He was initially close to joining Bursaspor but the deal fell through.
"Turkey is a place where people worship football, hence it's a blessing for every footballer including Asamoah Gyan to play in that country," Preko told Happy FM.
"It's a country where black players are cherished, and I can say on authority that the six years I spent there were the best period during my football career but the only challenge is with their journalist because just like Ghana, they criticise footballers a lot.
"It's great that Gyan has moved there because I believe he will be successful and raise the flag of Ghana high like we did in our heyday. Augustine Arhinful, Richard Kingson, Sam Johnson and Stephen Appiah made their names there through hard work.
"I believe he has what it takes to become an instant hit. It’s better late than never and I wish him good luck in Turkey,” he added.
