Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane reveals that he has been satisfied with the contribution of his new attack.
After losing the likes of Percy Tau and Khama Billiat during the offseason, Sundowns were forced to rebuild and Mosimane used the opportunity to rope in the likes of Toni Silva, Lebohang Maboe and Phakamani Mahlambi.
Although, the trio are yet to live up to the heights that Tau and Billiat set prior to their departure, Mosimane acknowledges that the early signs are promising.
Silva and Mahlambi have both opened their accounts for the season, while Maboe was recently on target yet again as Sundowns recorded only their second win of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign against Golden Arrows in midweek.
“I am happy that the new boys are starting to score, it is promising. It is not as rosy as we want it to be but we still win. We have four goals out of the new boys,” Mosimane was quoted as saying by Phakaaathi.

However, the 54-year-old former Bafana Bafana mentor is under no illusions of the size of shoes that the trio will need to fill.
“Yes, it doesn’t look shiny and glossy like Percy Tau and Khama Billiat used to, but maybe on aggregate they’ll score more goals, so sometimes we have to take what we have. They will get there, as long as they manage to score goals, we will be okay,” Mosimane explained.
Nonetheless, with Sundowns enjoying a break from competitive action this weekend, Mosimane will hope that the trio will continue to work on their sharpness in front of goal.
Out of five league games this season, the Tshwane giants have netted seven times this season, conceding four goals in the process.
Next up, for Sundowns is a tough encounter against second placed Bloemfontein Celtic on October 3rd.
