The Damaturu side midfielder has asserted that their current position at the bottom of the league table won’t demoralize them

Yobe Desert Stars’ Philip Auta has stressed that they will continue to fight on until the end of the season to see if this will be enough to save them from the relegation zone in spite of their latest home draw against Delta Force.

The Damaturu side was expected to beat the Asaba-based team who just occupied the space of Kada City in the top-flight but they were unable to muster a serious challenge in a dull goalless draw under a very scorching Sunday heat at the August 27th Stadium.

Auta who is Yobe Stars leading scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League with five goals opined that they must concentrate on their next game with Abia Warriors in Umuahia on Sunday with a view to picking at least a point and that they won’t be distracted in their quest to ensure that they escape the drop zone at the end of the season.

“It was another disappointing home game for us because we had come into the game with high hope that we would get our fourth league win of the season but Delta Force made the game very difficult for us and we were unable to penetrate through their tight defense,” Auta told GOAL.

“It was a bitter blow for us but we have resolved to keep on pushing harder and not allow the latest result to demoralize us in our struggle to keep Yobe Stars in the premier league beyond this season. We know that the odds seem against us now but we are going to fight on until the end of the season.

“We are going to Umuahia to face Abia Warriors this weekend with our sights on picking valuable points. We know that they beat us when the first leg was played here but they are presently struggling like us and this could be to our advantage.”

Yobe Stars are last in the NPFL Group B with 11 points from 14 games and they are seven points adrift of the relegation zone.
