The Sea Robbers scored 41 goals this past season and conceded 26 as they collected 55 points from their 30 league games.

Despite being the second highest goalscoring team after Mamelodi Sundowns, who won the league title, Pirates saw the need to bring in someone who will help their strikers convert those goalscoring chances.

Over two seasons ago, SuperSport United also hired former Bafana Bafana striker Mark Williams to help sharpen their marksmen.
