Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic isn't thinking about the PSL title

Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has insisted that they are not thinking about winning this season's Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

The Buccaneers are currently placed second on the PSL standings - two points behind log leaders Bidvest Wits with nine matches to go.

“We have strict targets that we are focusing on," Sredojevic told the media.

Pirates secured a commanding 4-1 win over AmaZulu FC in their previous league game over the weekend, and Micho has since turned his attention to the team's clash with Lamontville Golden Arrows this coming weekend.

"The first thing for us is that we are focused on how we are going to approach our game against a top coach (Steve Komphela) and top team Golden Arrows on Saturday. How we are going to match and outmatch them," he continued.

"It will be a difficult match. We signed a document with a good result by scoring four goals," the 2016 Caf Coach of the Year nominee explained.

Micho, who won league titles in Uganda, Ethiopia and Sudan, stated that they cannot afford to get carried away as the race for this season's PSL title intensifies.

Mamelodi Sundowns are placed third on the PSL standings - also two points behind leaders Wits, but the former has two games in hand.

"But the document needs to be stamped. We shall try our best to get the performance and the result and that is the only thing we are focused on," he added.

"The rest of the things are too far away; there is still too much to play for. For us, 27 points and other teams more," he said.

"And when you look at it, there is still too much to play for," he continued.  

"However, we don’t want to set our sights beyond Durban. The rest of the things we have no right to think about," he concluded.

Arrows will host Pirates at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
