Pule was tipped to join Chiefs from Wits, but he opted to sign on the dotted line with Pirates, who are now banking on him in the absence of Memela

Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic is banking on Vincent Pule to inspire his side to victory when they face Kaizer Chiefs .

The Buccaneers will lock horns with Amakhosi in the first Soweto Derby of the season at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Micho is expecting a tight match against a stubborn Chiefs side which is under the guidance of Italian tactician Giovani Solinas.

“In a game that will be very tight, we (are) hoping we could have that moment of brilliance which could lead us to the direction of winning the match,” Sredojevic told the media

Pirates are regarded as strong favorites ahead of this weekend's clash based on their previous results against Chiefs.

Micho masterminded Bucs to a 3-1 win over Amakhosi in an enthralling league encounter which was played at the FNB Stadium earlier this year.

“After being an admirer from distance, I can tell you that together with our technical team, players and management we will serve our supporters with the soul food that has lost its aspect of football fire," Micho added.

Luvuyo Memela produced two moments of brilliance as he came off the bench to score two goals which led to Pirates beating Chiefs in the second round of last year's campaign.

With Memela out injured, Sredojevic hopes Vincent Pule, who has been in good form for the Buccaneers this season, can get the job for the Sea Robbers.

“It is a game he has dreamt of as a small kid. So, in order for his legs not to be locked on the occasion, we want to tell him that he’s a top player," he said.

The left-footed attacker, who joined Bucs from Bidvest Wits four months ago, has netted four goals in 11 matches in all competitions this season.

“This will be a big test of character. So, he should just play his football and give what the team demands from him," he concluded.

Pule proved to be Pirates' hero as he came off the bench to score the winning goal against Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout Cup Last 16.
