Omino: Western Stima players were not fit for opener

Western Stima coach Henry Omino has faulted early impasse and wrangles in the league as main reason behind his team's low start.

The power men suffered a 3-1 defeat in the hands of reinstated Sofapaka last weekend at Moi Stadium, Kisumu. Omino says his players were not fit and struggled to cop with the opponents.

"I hate beating behind the bush, it was clear we were not fit against Sofapaka. My players struggled to match them and we ended up conceding. Sometimes when you have an extended resting period, it back fires and it takes time before gaining your fitness," Omino told Goal.

"All these were brought about by the delays we had ahead of league kick-off but I believe we will hit our top gear soon."

Western Stima will face table toppers Gor Mahia in their next assignment on Sunday.
