OFFICIAL: Peter Utaka joins FC Tokyo on loan

Nigeria international Peter Utaka has completed a loan move from J1 League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima to rivals FC Tokyo until January 1, 2018.

The Japanese giant announced the last minute signing of the Super Eagles forward on the transfer deadline day, making it the third Japanese team he would play for after Shimizu S-Pulse and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Utaka was the top scorer in the top scorer in the Japanese topflight league last season with 19 goals in 33 games and will aim to improve Yoshiyuki Shinoda's men 9th place finish last season.

As part of the deal, the former Westerlo and Beijing Guoan forward won't be eligible to play against his parent club when both teams meet in the league or club fixtures.

"We are pleased to announce that FC Tokyo has decided Peter Utaka to join the deadline transfer from Sanfrecce Hiroshima," the club said on their official website.

"The contract period is from March 1, 2017 until January 1, 2018. Peter Utaka players can not participate in all official games playing against Sanfrecce Hiroshima during the term transfer with the contract."

FC Tokyo will welcome Omiya Ardija to the Ajinomoto Stadium for their second league game on Saturday.
