Rangers went offensive in the opening minutes but MOCSA defence marshalled by Willis Wahito stood tall. After missed chances Francis Ochola broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when he flicked into the net a long pass from Hamdhu Kambu.
The visitors came back and piled pressure in search for the equalizer with Nigerian import Tetieh Olesu and Elisha Ochieng testing goal keeper Ryan Hamisi in the goal in the first five minutes of the second stanza. Rangers went on counter attack and MOSCA goalkeeper Thomas Bruno saved a shot from Francis Ochola after being put through by George Owiti. The hosts piled pressure and Alfred Maningi’s shot was deflected by Willis Wahito.
Three minutes after an hours mark, Michael Muya headed into his own net when he tried to clear a long ball flicked by Johnston Andele. Injured Franscis Ochola was substituted for David Orem when he collided with goalkeeper Thomas Bruno in an aerial tackle. During the stoppage time, the visitors were reduced to ten men when Solomon Masika was given his marching orders following a second bookable offense for abusive language after he had initially been cautioned for unsporting behavior.
With the results Modern Coast Rangers have four points from two matches. Rangers play their next league match against Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday at KPA Mbaraki Sports while MOSCA will host Wazito at Camp Toyoyo next Saturday.
