The Sassuolo attacker has faith in the under-fire manager who has had an underwhelming start to life at Allianz Arena

Kevin-Prince Boateng has backed Niko Kovac to turn Bayern Munich’s poor form around ‘right now or after the winter break’.

The Bavarians are set to hold crunch talks with the Croatian gaffer as regards his future after their 3-3 draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf in Saturday's league encounter.

Since Kovac was named to replace Jupp Heynckes in the summer, the reigning Bundesliga champions have managed just six wins in their opening 12 league games.

They are currently fifth in the log - nine points adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund - and a confident Boateng has thrown his weight behind his former boss who guided Eintracht Frankfurt to their first DFB Cup triumph in 30 years last season.

"Bayern will get back at it, either right now or after the winter break at the latest. Niko will be a success, I have 100 percent faith in him,” Boateng told Bundesliga website.

The 31-year-old who is plying his trade in Italian Serie A with Sassuolo believes Kovac’s work at the Commerzbank-Arena last season has helped the Eagles who are third in the Bundesliga table with 23 points from 12 matches.

"I think we created a kind of euphoria last season under Niko Kovac with aggressive, intense football that would later become more attractive,” he continued.

“They have built on that and are playing even better now. Everything is going for them right now.

"Every Frankfurt fan goes through the city with a smile on their face.”
