Nigeria trainee Ebere Eze gets maiden England U20 call-up

Ebere Eze has been handed his maiden England U20 call-up, Queens Park Rangers confirmed.

The 20-year-old, of Nigerian descent, has been a bright spark in QPR’s unimpressive start to the 2017-18 campaign, leading the goalscoring chart with three goals [from 11 games] from his midfield position.

He is expected to feature for the young Lions in friendlies against Italy and Czech Republic on October 11 and 15 respectively.

In March 2017, after the cancellation of a friendly against Burkina Faso in London, Eze trained with the Nigeria national team and, alongside former Arsenal prospect Chuba Akpom, even participated in a practice game organised by Gernot Rohr.

Reacting to the invite, Eze told club website: “You want to be called up for international football and it is a great honour to have been. It’s a really good milestone for me.

“I found out on Thursday night. I got a bit of an inkling from the Doctor as the FA had spoken to him and I’m really excited.

“It will be a good experience, I’ve never been involved before so I am looking forward to seeing what it is like.”
