Nigeria landed in Saint Petersburg, Russia on Sunday evening ahead of their 2018 Fifa World Cup last Group D clash with Argentina on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles had gained three points from two Group D games with last Friday's 2-0 win over Iceland in Volgograd moving them to the second position and thus, two points above their bottom-placed opponents.

Gernot Rohr’s men will be hoping to reach the knockout phase of the global showpiece but must avoid defeat against a crisis-ravaged Jorge Sampaoli side.

Before their departure from the team's base camp in Essentuki, the team had their final training in the morning, with captain John Mikel Obi, who copped an injury in the dying moments against Iceland, participating fully in the session.

They arrived in Saint Petersburg, venue of the all-important high-profile encounter by 7 pm local time [5 pm in Nigeria] and were lodged at the Corinthia Hotel.

A team spokesperson confirmed to Goal that the Super Eagles will train by 5:30 pm local time (3 pm in Nigeria) on Monday, at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.

The three-time African champions will be hoping to make history by securing their first win over La Albiceleste at the tournament, after four previous meetings had ended in the South Americans' favour.
