In an interview with Goal, Ngobe said Bucs must focus on strengthening their defence now ahead of next season. He also backed Sangweni to shine

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Dumisa Ngobe is happy with the club's recent signings, but believes they need to bring in more defenders like Bidvest Wits Thulani Hlatshwayo and Justice Chabalala  who spent the second half of last season loan at Chippa United.

“Yes, I think they should look to bring in more defenders; the kind of quality defenders like Chabalala and Hlatshwayo because that’s where they are struggling. That’s the problem,” Ngobe told Goal .

“If they can get those kind of defenders, it will help them at the back,” he said.

Thus far, the Sea Robbers have signed midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni from Chippa United, Nigerian striker Christian Obiozor and former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands.

They shipped in a whopping 40 goals in the league last season, and as a result, missed out on a top eight finish for the first time in 30 years.

Ngobe tips Sangweni to make a huge impact in the middle of the park alongside captain Oupa Manyisa.

“I think this Sangweni boy is going to make the team tick. I don’t know how they plan to use him, but as you know, he can control things in midfield and play as a destroyer,” Ngobe concluded.
