New Yobe Stars coach, Taiye Yusuf plots escape from relegation

The newly appointed head coach of the Damaturu-based side has reiterated his mission to the club amidst their woes with the relegation zone

Yobe Desert Stars new Technical Adviser, Taiye Yusuf has disclosed that his immediate target is to see the Damaturu side swim out of the relegation zone.

Yusuf replaced retrenched Ngozi Elechi and with his club at the bottom of the NPFL Group B with 10 points from 12 games the new handler pointed out that it is important to ensure that they start getting good results from their away game with Gombe United which comes up at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe on Sunday.

He noted that even though the task looks very enormous based on their current position in the league table, they are ready to give the rest of the games in the current season their best shot to ensure that they achieve their objective of avoiding a return to the lower league.

“I am happy that I have been given the task of helping Yobe Stars to remain in the top-flight at the end of the season,” Yusuf told GOAL.

“It won’t be an easy task but we are going to give the remaining matches all the required attention and ensure that we stay in the league at the end of the season.  We have a lot of work to do and I have told the players that their cooperation will be highly needed for us to escape the relegation zone.

“All hands must be on deck now to ensure that we stay up. We have had a lot that we have battled through and it will be a good experience if we can get the results that will enable us to stay up. Our first task is to go to Gombe and surprise them (Gombe United) on Sunday. It is possible to pick the three points there and we are going all out for it.”
