Motaung wants to see more youngsters starring for Kaizer Chiefs next season

Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung on Thursday confirmed that coach Steve Komphela will be at the helm next season.

“We had a good run when we went 14 games unbeaten but a lot of those games were draws. The last five games- in terms of performance we played well, but we had too many defensive glitches. We conceded late in three matches,” Motaung told Daily Sun.

The club has for the first time in its 47 year history gone two campaigns without silverware and their only consolation would be a third place finish and qualify for the Caf Confederations Cup.

“Steve still has a year to go on his contract and we can’t put the disappointment of this season down to one person,” he said.

“We can’t decide overnight to get rid of the coach. In any case, chopping and changing coaches can hurt you,” Motaung continued.

The 72-year-old legendary administrator admired how Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has blooded in youngsters and wants to see the same happening with Chiefs next season.

“Coaches are scared to blood youngsters at big clubs. But we need to blood at bringing in more promising youngsters next season," he added.

“Our defence did not do us any good. To be honest, you could see some had tired legs,” Motaung concluded.
