The Olukoya Boys return to action after a forced two-week break, when they take on reigning topflight champions, Enugu Rangers at the Agege Stadium on Friday night.
And the gaffer, delighted with his team’s position on the log despite not being involved in recent league actions due to continental fixtures of their oppositions (Rivers United and Wikki Tourist), has stated that they will approach the fixtures with care
“I’m very happy because we are fourth on the log with outstanding matches,” Ilechukwu told Goal.
“And I think the table must not deceive us because the season just started and by God’s grace our next game against Rangers we will put on our best to make sure we get a good result.
“For the past two weeks, we have been playing friendly games. And we have played against tough oppositions to keep us in good shape so that anytime we are called upon we can be able to put up a good performance.''
“We have almost thirty-something players in our camp. And I must admit; it won’t be easy changing the team every game,” he continued.
“But we do not have any reasons not to change the team when it needs fresh legs. But for now we are prepared and the most important thing now is to take the games one after the other. And it starts with Rangers on Friday night.
Ilechukwu was spotted at the Sagamu International Stadium for a matchday nine encounter between rivals, Remo Stars and Lobi Stars.
Stating his reason for the visit, he said: “It is a good thing for me because the game between Lobi Stars and Remo was a great game for both teams.
“I used the opportunity to watch Remo Stars because having a new coach [Fatai Osho] is like having a new team with new tactics, quality, and ability. So, I tried to go and see what is happening at Remo Stars,” he concluded.
