Masilo Machaka: I have never seen Kaizer Chiefs' trophy cabinet so empty

Following  Kaizer Chiefs'  successful defence of their Maize Cup on Saturday, renowned supporter Masilo Machaka is even hungrier for more trophies.

The outspoken supporter says they welcomed the pre-season trophy, but want bigger trophies ahead of the highly anticipated 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

Under the guidance of Patrick Mabedi and Arthur Zwane, Amakhosi lifted the trophy after beating Buya Msuthu and then Free State Stars in the final at James Motlatsi Stadium.

Moreover, the Soweto giants’ faithful also welcomed the appointment of new coach Giovanni Solinas.

Although, Machaka acknowledged that the Italian manager does not boast cup winning pedigree, he said they will support him like they did with ex-coach Steve Komphela.

On the other hand, the supporter also praised the combination between Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro in the North West province.

Billiat made his debut on the day, providing an assist for Castro against Ea Lla Koto.

“Yeah I don’t think they need any introduction in the PSL, we all know what they did at Sundowns and they have played for a big club and it caught many by surprise that Billiat is now a Glamour Boy,” Machaka told Goal on Sunday.

“I am happy the club is still capable of attracting big players and we welcome him in the Amakhosi family and he has nothing to prove to anyone,” he noted.

“His role in the Maize Cup was an introduction because he is in a different environment now - I am sure they will kill many clubs with Castro,” acknowledged the fan.

“We expect a lot from them as a team, but not putting pressure on the team and the coaches, we are happy they won the Maize cup for the second time, but we want big cups,” urged Machaka.

Meanwhile, speaking about their new coach, Machaka revealed that they believe in the choice made by management.

“I think any coach can be good for us, we just wanted a coach because a local or a foreign coach will still need our support,” responded Machaka.

“We welcome him and we must respect the decision made by the management, for us is to support him and ensure he wins games,” asserted the Bafana Bafana supporter.

“We will buy jerseys and go to the stadium because have a big animal in Billiat, the players like Kabelo Mahlasela, Joseph Molangoane, Castro – the team is on fire,” continued the Chiefs fan.

“We know he (Solinas) has not won a trophy before, but we will support him to ensure he wins at Chiefs, we loved Komphela, but sadly luck was not on his side,” he added.

“Our cabinet is empty, I have never seen it so empty, but it will be filled with big cups very soon – Khosi for Life,” he concluded.
