Malaysia v DPR Korea
Bukit Jalil Stadium will finally get to be the home of the Malayan Tigers as Mongolia are penciled in as Tan Cheng Hoe's first opponent as head coach.

The former head coach of Kedah will finally get to prove his worth after Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that the Malaysia national team will be taking on Mongolia at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in the middle of February.

FAM General-Secretary Dato Hamidin bin Amin spoke to the press on Thursday and confirmed that the 189th ranked Mongolia will be the first opponent that Tan will be in charge of since taking over from Eduardo 'Nelo' Vingada.

"We are also making plans to have more friendly matches in May and June as part of the preparations for the AFF Championship. However, we have to ensure that we follow the international calendar set by FIFA. The national team coaching staff will start their assessment on Super League and Premier League players beginning this weekend."

"Of course it is in our plans to improve the national team rankings and we fully support Tan in developing a strong squad. In fact, after discussion with the FAM president, we will be able to call Syamer Kutty and Dominic Tan, if they are seleted to represent the country in the upcoming Asian Games and AFF Championship," said Hamidin.

This marks the first time that the national team will be playing in the stadium that was recently refurbished for the 2017 KL SEA Games.

After the friendly, Tan will get his next test against Lebanon on March 27 in the final match of the 2019 Asian Cup qualifier. Malaysia are currently rooted in bottom place of Group B with only a single point and has no chance of reaching the competition in United Arab Emirates next year.
