Leon Balogun has been ruled out of Mainz 05’s crucial encounter with Borussia Dortmund in Saturday’s German Bundesliga outing.
The 29-year-old defender last played for the O-Fives on April 16 in their 2-0 victory over Freiburg after he suffered a rib injury.
The Opel Arena outfit will also be without Danny Latza and Emil Berggreen while Suat Serdar will be expected to make his return in the match.
“Leon Balogun, has not been able to fully train, Suat Serdar should return today. Danny Latza and Emil Berggreen are still not ready to return to training,” read a statement via club Twitter account.
Balogun has made 15 appearances for Sandro Schwarz’s men this season, helping them to three clean sheets.
Mainz 05 are three places and three points above the relegation zone and will be aiming to stun their hosts in order to boost their chances of survival.
