The two Gauteng clubs ended the recent 2017/18 PSL campaign under the guidance of caretaker coaches and they are expected to appoint permanent trainers prior to next season.
Belgian tactician Eymael has been lauded for transforming Stars into a strong team which finished in the top eight and also reached the 2018 Nedbank Cup final.
As a result, Chiefs and SuperSport are said to have approached Eymael, who was appointed Ea Lla Koto head coach at the beginning of the recent campaign.
However, Eymael has since cleared the air, stating that he had not received any concrete offers from anyone, including Amakhosi and Matsatsantsa.
“I see people are saying after the Nedbank Cup I’ll be going to Chiefs,” Eymael told Daily Sun.
“But I have not been contacted by anyone. And I’ll inform my bosses first, if I’m ever contacted,” he added.
Constant speculation regarding Eymael’s future hasn’t gone down well with Stars' general manager Rantsi Mokoena, who believes the rumours have affected the team.
“This narrative needs to stop! It is unfair and it undermines this club. It almost suggests he is above Free State Stars, or that Stars don’t deserve a coach of his calibre. At the end of the day, we need to respect the fact that Luc is contracted to this club,” Mokoena said.
“His availability should not be an issue because he is contracted. This is a club with a rich history. But this narrative continues. Just like players, coaches come and go. Luc hasn’t signed a lifetime contract with us. But what we should be focusing on now is the cup final, the season we’ve had,” he explained.
Mokoena feels that the speculation has distabilized Ea Lla Koto, who are currently enduring a seven-match winless run which includes a 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates in their last league match of the season last weekend.
“I don’t want to apportion blame to anyone. But we went seven games without a win, four losses and three draws. And if you trace it back, it’s since the story broke. It goes as far as disturbing not just himself but the players and the office. It has created a negative vibe within the team,” he concluded.
