Luc Eymael: Free State Stars' match against Orlando Pirates is perfect preparation ahead of the Nedbank Cup final

The Belgium-born tactician feels that they are playing the Buccaneers at the right time

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael has revealed that he will rest some of his key players when they face Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Ea Lla Koto will travel to the Orlando Stadium where they are scheduled to face the Buccaneers in their last Premier Soccer League (PSL) match of the season.

Stars are heading into this encounter with one eye on next weekend’s Nedbank Cup final against Maritzburg United at the Cape Town Stadium.

Belgian tactician Eymael stated that a victory over Pirates will give Stars momentum heading into their big clash with Maritzburg.

“You know we want to prepare for the final and the best way to do that is to have a good game against Orlando Pirates,” Eymael told Vodacom Soccer.

Stars will be looking to complete a double over the Soweto giants, having defeated Pirates 2-1 in the first round encounter at the Goble Park Stadium last December.

Goals from Abbubaker Mobara (own-goal) and Sinethemba Jantjie helped Ea Lla Koto stun Bucs with Thabiso Kutumela netting for the visitors.

“So it’s simple, we must have a good game against Pirates to boost our confidence going into the final,” he continued.

“I will rest one or two players because they have three yellow cards and we need to have them for the final,” Eymael added.

“It’s an opportunity to give others a chance, but I will take a good group for the final match of the season to prepare us for the final, which is very important,” he concluded.

Stars will be hoping to win the South African FA Cup for the second time having won the tournament in 1994.

They defeated Hellenic in the final to clinch the Nedbank Cup which was then known as the Coca Cola Cup.
