The Portuguese side were reported to be closing on a deal for a man out of favour in north London, but a deal appears unlikely.

Sounders set to sign Bournemouth's Brad Smith

Former Liverpool youth product Brad Smith is reportedly headed to MLS to join up with the Seattle Sounders on loan, according to journalist Chris Wise.

Having made just five Premier League showings for Bournemouth since joining from Liverpool in 2016, the 24-year-old appears set to join up with the Western Conference side. 

It's been a busy summer for the Sounders, who have already landed Raul Ruidiaz and are also reportedly on the verge of signing Paolo Hurtado as they push for a playoff place. 

Utd & City passed on Vidal deal

Manchester rivals United and City passed up the opportunity to sign Arturo Vidal ahead of Barcelona, reports El Chiringuito.

The Chilean midfielder has completed a €20 million (£18m/$23m) switch to Camp Nou from Bayern Munich, but he was offered to leading Premier League sides first.

Those in England opted against making a move as both United and City had concerns over Vidal's long-term fitness and his age, with an experienced performer now 31.

Dortmund refuse to sell Pulisic

The Bundesliga club will keep the teenager until next summer

Borussia Dortmund are refusing to sell Christian Pulisic this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has two years remaining on his contract and has drawn the interest of multiple clubs, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea leading the hunt.

However the Bundesliga club do not want to sell this year, though they may be willing to agree to a Pulisic fee this summer with agreement he will not depart the club until after the season, akin to Liverpool's agreement with Naby Keita. 

Bournemouth agree club record fee for Lerma

Bournemouth have agreed a club-record £25 million (€28m/$33m) fee for Levante's Jefferson Lerma, according to Sky Sports.

The midfielder will fly to England to have a medical and discuss personal terms, after having submitted a transfer request last week. 

Vidal makes €8.5m exit to Sevilla

Aleix Vidal has completed his return to Sevilla from Barcelona, with the deal worth €8.5 million (£8m/$10m) and a further €2m in variables.

The defender brings to an end a three-year tenure with Barca, during which he never started more than six La Liga games in a season for the club.

Vidal returns to Sevilla, where he starred in one season before making his move to Barca.

Klopp keeping Grujic at Anfield

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has accepted defeat in his attempts to bring Liverpool's Marko Grujic back on loan.

Grujic spent the second half of last season at Cardiff and featured 13 times in the Championship as the Welsh side secured promotion to the Premier League, but he will not be returning.

Koulibaly ends €90m transfer chase

Chelsea and Manchester United will need to look elsewhere for a new centre-half after seeing Kalidou Koulibaly commit to a new five-year contract at Napoli.

The Senegal international has been targeted by Premier League clubs for some time, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all credited with holding an interest in the past.

He will, however, be staying put this summer after seeing off bids of €90 million (£80m/$104m) and penning fresh terms in Italy.

The Red Devils pursued the Inter star last summer but he opted to stay and sign a new five-year contract with the Italian side.

Mexican defender Alanis headed to MLS?

Oswaldo Alanís could be headed for MLS, according to Diario Record.

The El Tri center back, who missed out on Mexico's World Cup roster, made a move to Getafe this summer, but was signed by since-departed Ramon Planes.

Current coach Jose Bordalas sees him as surplus to needs and the 29-year-old could be shipped to another club in Europe or sent to MLS, though no club was named in the report. 

Zambrano: $13.5m Davies 'a bargain' for Bayern

Alphonso Davies' $13.5 million (€11.5m/£10m) transfer to Bayern Munich broke a 10-year-old transfer fee record for a Major League Soccer player. 

That number may double the record if Davies meets certain incentives, but Octavio Zambrano still thinks Bayern has landed a steal.

"Bayern got a bargain, no doubt. One hundred percent," Zambrano told Goal. "His best years are ahead of him and he has so much more in his game. I think they got a superb player for a very good deal. Alphonso is a player of three or four times that amount."

Danilo Silva returns to MLS to play for Bradley

LAFC announced the loan signing of Danilo Silva on Friday. 

The 31-year-old defender, who played one season in MLS 13 years ago, will be re-united with manager Bob Bradley, who he played five games under as an 18-year-old.
