The Kenyan side sealed their place in the next round of the competition after registering a 3-0 win away from home to add to the 6-1 win they managed in the first leg against Arta Solar of Djibouti.
With a 3-0 win in the second leg, we are through to the next stage of the CAF Confederations Cup after a 9-1 aggregate win over Arta Solar7. We face @AsanteKotoko_SC next.#CAFCC #WeAreSharks #PamojaTunaweza pic.twitter.com/vuZFxzzdS9— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) December 5, 2018
In the return leg, the Sharks needed goals from George Abege, who opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Vincent Wasambo and Duke Abuya added the remaining two.
However, Asante Kotoko advanced to the next round without kicking a ball. This follows the decision by Confederation of African Football (Caf), who cancelled their first round match after the Football Federation of Cameroon had failed to submit its representative before the deadline.
Kotoko were scheduled to meet an opponent from Cameroun in a first round first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday, November 28. Sharks will now meet Kotoko in the first leg between December 14 and 15.
