The Amakhosi mentor says he wants to use the current Fifa international break to recharge their batteries and instil his coaching methods

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has urged the Glamour Boys' faithful to give his team time as he vowed to turn their fortunes around.

The Amakhosi boss was speaking after their MTN8 exit this past weekend and was adamant that he will use the current Fifa break to fine tune his coaching philosophy.

“I am sure that with time this team will improve and will get results. You still don’t see the best of Kaizer Chiefs. It’s coming,” Solinas was quoted as saying by IOL.

“The Fifa break is a good opportunity now for us because in this time we will work on our fitness and the physical condition because we have players that need to work hard on this like Lebo Manyama (signed last week),” the coach explained.

“I repeat that I believe in this team. It is a difficult moment for us, but I believe in my players. I am sure that with time we will get the results,” insisted the manager.

After enduring a three-year trophy drought, Solinas replaced Steve Komphela just before the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season and has led Amakhosi in eight matches in all competitions so far.

“I promise you guys, the best of Kaizer Chiefs is still coming. You have not seen it yet. To go further in this cup was our desire,” he continued.

“It was the family’s desire as well to win a trophy because everyone wants it. We missed a great opportunity,” concluded the coach.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants will now hope to do well in the PSL, Telkom Knockout, the Nedbank as well as the Caf Confederation Cup.

Although, they are yet to win a match in their PSL campaign, the coach remains hopeful that they will turn the corner when they visit Cape Town City away in the Mother City on Saturday, September 15.
