  • Chiefs are in a four-match winning run
  • Barker comments ahead of Stellies, Chiefs game

WHAT HAPPENED: Stellies have been on a good run domestically, unbeaten in the last seven games, winning six of those.

They are playing Amakhosi, who are also on a four-match winning streak since their 3-2 loss against Golden Arrows on February 23.

Barker insists his team is upbeat ahead of the match against the Glamour Boys at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

However, the tactician is aware it will not be an easy task since Arthur Zwane's team are aiming at making it to the Caf Champions League next season.

WHAT HE SAID: "The mood is upbeat, we are in a good sort of space right now with current results. A big game against Kaizer Chiefs to look forward to," Barker said ahead of the match.

"The mood has been very good, a lot of bubbliness, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of positiveness around the squad which makes it quite good.

"When you are on a run like this, confidence is always higher. But the key is we must never be satisfied with that, we want to continue with that run and finish the season strong starting with the match this weekend.

"The key to us getting good results against Chiefs, we must continue from the emotional point of view and be humble and not become complacent.

"Chiefs themselves are on a good run and they have also been playing well, they have good players all around the park, goal threats all around, good individual quality.

"If we can do that, we have the ability to ask them questions. It’s going to be one of those games where we have to play well both defensively and in attack, take our chances."

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Zwane and Chiefs cannot afford to drop points on Saturday since that may negatively impact their bid to play in the Caf Champions League game next season.

Currently, SuperSport United are holding the remaining slot for the coveted tournament with 39 points.

Pirates and Chiefs are locked in 37 points with seven rounds remaining to conclude the season.

WHAT NEXT: As Chiefs host Stellies, SuperSport play Chippa United while Bucs will have a tricky fixture against Richards Bay.
