Kadodia not saddened with De Sa’s sudden departure at Maritzburg United

Maritzburg, Roger De Sa
The Portuguese-speaking coach pulled the plug on the Team of Choice on Thursday, citing ‘family reasons’ as the answer

Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia admits they are not disappointed with the departure of coach Roger De Sa 72 days after replacing German Ernst Middendorp.

“It’s football. These things happen in football. It was a personal decision, an honest decision from the coach. Otherwise I feel we can’t be unhappy about it,” Kadodia told Goal.

The shock departure has now opened the door for a certain Fadlu Davids to act as interim coach once again, who held the same role following Middendorp’s exit.

Moreover, De Sa’s exit does not put a damper on their top eight aspirations. It’s an opportunity for the interim coaches to empower and improve their capabilities.

“Fortunately for us the technical team for us stays the same. It was the same technical team that started off the season so they have a bit of an idea of how to deal with the players,” Kadodia said.

“So, that’s a plus factor for us. It will give the technical team time to empower and improve themselves,” Kadodia added.

He admits he will fully support Davids for their remaining nine games of the season before contemplating handing him the role on a full-time basis.

“I will fully support Davids. Let’s wait and see how he goes for the remaining nine games of the season and take it from there,” Kadodia said.

The Team of Choice are two points off the top eight spots which the resurgent Platinum Stars currently occupies after three wins on the trot.

The Pietermaritzburg-based side's next encounter will see them welcome Ajax Cape Town on April 1st.
