Indian Super League (ISL) new entrants Bengaluru and Jamshedpur lock horns at the Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday.
Bengaluru FC have had a fine start to their debut season in the ISL so far. They are second in the points table with 12 points from six matches. Jamshedpur FC, on the other hand, have six points from five matches and are placed sixth.
The Blues tasted their second defeat of the season in the last match against fellow South Indian side Chennaiyin FC and coach Roca stressed the importance of a win against Jamshedpur FC.
“It's important to win tomorrow [Thursday] because we have back-to-back games which means that a loss has to be followed by a win if we are to make amends.”
On opponents Jamshedpur FC, Roca opined, “Jamshedpur are a good team and we know how tough it is to breach their defence. We have to go all out from the beginning and try to play our football.”
The former FC Barcelona assistant coach suggested that Jamshedpur are predominantly a defensive unit. He further branded them as a team which plays the English style of football.
“It is important to know how to be defensive against a side that is defensive because they will look to attack on the counter and the transition plays a big part. We trust our brand of football and we have no doubts about the way we play. My players have shown the skill we have and I know we will get the results we want."
"Jamshedpur play an English style of football, which is tough to break down. They do not take risks and like to keep the ball moving. I respect the way they play and it is a challenge I am looking forward to facing. If we are able to win, it makes for a great experience,” suggested the Blues' boss.
Roca's right-hand man Carles Cuadrat, who had a knee surgery recently, is slowly recovering as suggested by the coach himself. "Carles is still in the hospital but I hope he is discharged soon. It has been a tough period but he's been sending in all the set-piece plans and he's working as hard as everyone else," said Roca.
