Ibrahim Enesi is delighted with his breakthrough at Kogi United after his goal helped the Nigeria National League side to a Round of 32 Federation Cup 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes.

A second-half strike from Enesi, who graduated from the youth team ensured Tunde Abdulrahman’s men sent the last year’s finalist packing from the competition on Sunday.

Elated by his significant role in the Confluence Boys’ triumph in Makurdi, the striker is humbled by the playing opportunity and vows to maintain his fine form in subsequent games.

"I thank God for the confidence and appreciate the encouragement from the coach and everyone in the team,” Enesi told Goal.

“I'm grateful for the chance I was given to play and score. I'm happy with my confidence reposed in me and I am assuring all that I will not joke with any chance that comes my way.

“It’s very difficult to get those chances in games, especially in our team where we have a lot of quality players. It was the self-confidence I was lacking before but it is with me now and I want to continue to improve.

"I urge our fans and supporters to keep on praying for us, believe in us and we will always make them proud both in the [Nigeria National] league and this competition [Federation Cup].”
