The Coimbatore-based club have reinforced their squad with their fourth Spanish addition for the upcoming I-league season...

Chennai City FC have roped in versatile forward Nestor Gordillo for the upcoming I-league season. The Spaniard has played in the youth ranks football clubs C.D.Tenerife and U.D.Las Palmas. His last senior stint was with UE Cornella which plies its trade in the third tier of the Spanish League.

The attacking midfielder has also played for Atletico Madrid B. In the recently concluded season, he clocked 973 minutes while scoring only once in that period.

Chennai City meanwhile, continue with their trend of signing overseas goalkeepers after completing a deal for Aussie custodian Jerrard Tyson. Uros Poljanec's inconsistency under the sticks had cost them some crucial points in the opening stages of the I-League and the Serbian was set free at the end of the season.

Previously, the club had announced that Spanish centre forward Pedro Cruz had been roped in along with wing back Roberto Eslava Suarez and playmaker Sandro Rodriguez Felipe. Jordi Villa, the assistant coach of the club, hails from Spain. It is believed that Villa has been instrumental in all the signings so far.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish armada can change the fortunes of Chennai City in the coming season after they finished a lowly eighth in the league table during 2017-18.
