Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen, on Monday, stated that they are targetting nothing less than full three points against Chennai City FC. The Kolkata giants lock horns against the South Indian side on Tuesday, January 2nd, in a crucial I-League encounter at their home ground.
Ahead of the crucial tie, coach Sanjoy Sen said, "We have to win tomorrow’s encounter. We cannot afford to drop any more points at home. This is our last home before we travel for away games."
While Sen agreed that his side are not playing the best football at the moment, he pointed out that luck is not favouring Mohun Bagan at the moment. "No doubt we are playing bad football but luck in football constitutes at least one percent,” suggested Sen.
The Kolkata giants will once again take the field against Chennai City FC without star player Sony Norde, who is still suffering from his knee injury. Sony's absence has clearly affected Bagan who failed to win their three previous games.
On Sony Norde's importance, the coach said, "Sony is definitely an important player for our side but we have to reduce our dependency on him. The other players have to step up and win matches for the side.”
Chennai coach V. Soundararajan complimented opponents Mohun Bagan ahead of the match and even mentioned that he considers the Green and Maroons to be a better side than arch-rivals East Bengal, against whom they had lost their previous home encounter.
“Mohun Bagan are a better side than East Bengal. They are much more organised. East Bengal are getting the goals, while luck is eluding Mohun Bagan,” said Soundararajan.
