Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed defender S'fiso Hlanti is training with the team at the club's headquarters in Naturena.
This despite the pending outcome of the transfer ban appeal which was heard before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on September 9.
Amakhosi announced on the weekend they have not received communication from CAS and promised not to keep the news a secret once they know their fate.
However, they appear to be confident of a successful appeal now that Hlanti is already getting used to the environment at the Village after being linked with a move to the club for weeks now.
Hlanti is currently a free agent after his contract was terminated by Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), meaning Chiefs won't have to pay a transfer fee for his services provided their ban is suspended.
The Durban-born player worked with current Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt for years at Wits following his arrival from AmaZulu in 2016.
He's seen as one of Hunt's potential signings due to his experience both on the domestic and international fronts.
Hlanti is a regular member of the Bafana Bafana squad and he brings with him a wealth of experience defending and going forward.
He featured 156 times for Wits and scored twice during his four-year stay.
Hlanti also has 11 caps for Bafana and was part of the squad that represented South Africa at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.
If signed, he will compete with Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Yagan Sasman for a spot in Hunt's starting line-up next season.
Ntiya-Ntiya and Sasman have come under scrutiny for their lack of consistency and inability to stamp their authority against tougher opponents.
More former Bidvest Wits players are expected to join Hlanti at Naturena in the next few weeks.
They are Thabang Monare and Phathutshedzo Nange who also worked with Hunt.
It's unclear at this stage, what will happen to Hlanti or any of the players who are hoping to sign for Chiefs should CAS rule against them.
