After a successful few months in charge of League Two side Crawley Town, Harry Kewell is reportedly less than 48 hours away from becoming manager of League One outfit Charlton Athletic.
Kent Live claims Crawley Town are preparing for the former Socceroos striker to leave imminently with suggestions he's even said goodbye to his players as a move into the vacant managerial position at Charlton looms.
Reports surfaced last week that Kewell had been approached by the former Premier League club with then manager Karl Robinson resigning just days later.
Sitting ninth but just two points off a play-off spot into the Championship, Charlton are in desperate need of a quick replacement and it appears Kewell is ready to fill the void.
While himself denying initial reports last week after Crawley’s 3-2 loss to Wycombe, the former Liverpool attacker has quickly become a 5/1 bookies favourite to make the move.
With Charlton in the midst of a potential Austrailian takeover, Kewell is seen as the right man for the job with an official announcement expected on Thursday in England.
Former Leeds United player Lee Bowyer is currently caretaker manager of the club and as well as being a former teammate of Kewell’s, was also his assistant at Watford U23’s, meaning the two could well team up again.

After finishing his playing career in the A-League with Melbourne Heart in 2014, Kewell moved into management securing a role in charge of Watford U23 side within a year.
Sacked in April 2017 from that position for a run of poor results, the 39-year-old secured the top job with Crawley Town in League Two.
While he started the season poorly and is currently on a five-game winless run, Kewell showed his ability as a manager mid-season winning eight out of ten matches across January and February to put his side in the hunt for promotion.
Crawley Town's poor recent run however has seen them slip down to 13th - 11 points off a play-off spot.
Kewell attained his UEFA B and A licences in 2015 after a playing career that saw him appear at two World Cups with Australia and win the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.
While strongly denying the initial Charlton reports last week, claiming they only surfaced because he was an Australian and the club is being taken over by Australians, Kewell was full of praise for The Addicks.
"It's a massive club, I'm not going to lie," he told Kent Live.
"It's a massive club. It's got great potential.
"But like I said, you guys put an Australian consortium together, there's only one Australian manager over here - and oh, bang, he's got the job!"
