GPL week seven wrap: Sarfo Gyamfi's strike does it for Kotoko

A 62nd minute Frank Sarfo Gyamfi effort was all Asante Kotoko needed to catch up as the Ghana Premier League entered week seven on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors laboured to record a 1-0 home win over Wafa at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and the victory as much sends them level on points with leaders Aduana Stars, who were held to a goalless draw by Medeama at Dormaa.

Elsewhere, Hearts of Oak could not make it two wins in a row as they were stung by Joseph Paintsil's double in a 2-1 away defeat to new boys Tema Youth. The forward netted the winner in the 75th minute after Thomas Abbey restored parity two minutes from recess.

At the Golden City Park, Brimah Mohammed's 31st minute strike was the separating factor as Berekum Chelsea picked a 1-0 home win over Bolga All Stars.

Impressively, newly-promoted Elmina Sharks held their own away at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in the scoreless stalemate with FA Cup holders Bechem United.

Likewise, Ebusua Dwarfs came away with a point from their visit of reigning champions Wa All Stars. Nicholas Gyan, once again, was the hero for the Crabs, making it 1-1 after Paul Asare put the home side in front.

It may, perhaps, be the final straw for coach Godwin Attram as his Great Olympics side, once again, failed to claim maximum points at the Accra Sports Stadium. The 'Dade' Boys' hopes of recording a first win of the season was quashed by Prince Baffoe, whose goal, for Inter Allies, cancelled David Amuzu's 31st minute lead for the home side. Oly sit bottom of the table with three points to their name as the speculations over Attram's future continue.

Liberty Professionals suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to 2014-15 champions Ashanti Gold. Amos Addai fetched the solitary goal at the Len Clay Stadium.
