Gor Mahia will name a new coach to handle the side in the next one week.
The record Kenyan champions are currently under caretaker coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno, following the exit of Dylan Kerr to South Africa Premier League side, Black Leopards.
But club chairman Ambrose Rachier has promised that the new head of the technical bench will be announced in the coming week from a pool of 53, who have shown interest in the vacant job.
The youngest applicant, according to Rachier, is 34-years-old while the oldest is 65-years old.
Rachier added that the team of expert who will peruse the huge volumes of CV's will have to consider the experience and linguistic capability of each candidate before proposing a name for employment.
“We have 53 applicants as of yesterday (Sunday); some have coached in Kenya and some have never stepped foot in Kenya.
“The panel of experts will have to do the vetting but I can state that we’ll have to consider experience, possibly in Africa football and the language ability of the candidate for ease of communication with the players.”
Gor Mahia are set to host Nyasa Big Bullets in a Caf Champions League match on November 28 (Wednesday) at the Kasarani Stadium.
