Ghanaian Bonsu hoping to return to the pitch after jail term in Sweden

The midfielder was released last week halfway through his prison sentence for sexually assaulting his former wife

Ghanaian midfielder Kwame 'Conte' Bonsu is hoping to join a new club before the transfer window closes.

The 23-year-old, who is currently in Ghana, was released from a Swedish prison last week midway through a two-year sentence in 2017 for assaulting his former wife Maria Magnusson.

The former Heart of Lions star has seen his contract with Swedish side Gefle mutually terminated, making him eligible to seek for a new club.

"To be honest, I am really enjoying time with my family after coming out of jail because I have missed that a lot," Bonsu told Otec FM.

"I'm now planning with my agent for what the future holds for me and then we take it from there. At the same time, there can always be negotiations with any club since I'm now a free agent.

"I just want to have fun with my family and my agent will take care of that," he added.

Bonsu also paid $14,000 as compensation for moral damages to his ex-wife and legal costs. He has been banned from Sweden and other Scandinavian countries for the next ten years.
