Having each gone without three points in their last two games, the ‘big boys’ are under pressure to get back to winning ways

In order to step away from the spotlight following recent disappointing results, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko badly need wins in this weekend’s matchday nine action of the Ghana Premier League.

The heavyweights have been rather inconsistent this term, having each won three of eight games played thus far.

Hearts, however, have the bigger headache after losing four times and drawing the other game. At home to Bechem United, the Phobians are in dire need of full points to ease the pressure on coach Henry Wellington.

Kotoko, who have drawn two games and lost three times, have a trip to 2015-16 champions Wa All Stars, who lost to Bechem in midweek. The Porcupine Warriors occupy the seventh position, two places above Hearts.

Tied at the top of the table by Karela United and Dreams FC, Ashanti Gold must claim all points when they host Inter Allies on Saturday to limit the possibility of being toppled this weekend.

Karela, meanwhile, are favourites to come out victorious when they play hosts to sixth-placed Elmina Sharks at Anyinase.

Dreams, on the other hand, face a stern test in their clash with reigning champions Aduana Stars in Dawu. The latter are third from bottom on the log.

Elsewhere, it could be a third straight defeat for Liberty Professionals should they lose away to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park. Chelsea, 10th on the ladder, are notoriously uncompromising at home, tipping the odds against the Scientific Soccer Lads who are second from bottom on the table.

At Techiman, new boys Eleven Wonders have a date with Medeama, who have won four of six games played thus far. Wonders are 12th on the standings, while the Yellow and Mauves hold the fourth spot.

And in Cape Coast, thirteenth-positioned Ebusua Dwarfs will lock horns with Wafa, who have drawn one and lost four of their last five games.
