Gavin Hunt admits Bidvest Wits cannot afford to keep Al Ahly loanee Amr Gamal

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt is resigned to losing star striker Amr Gamal at the end of the season because they cannot afford to keep him due to his hefty price tag.

“We can’t buy players like that. There’s only one club in South Africa that can buy players like that, not us. We don’t buy players,” Hunt told the media.

Gamal is on a season-long loan from the Cairo Red Devils which expires at the end of this campaign, but his hefty price tag is keeping the Students off his radar.

It’s believed that any suitors wishing to get him on a permanent deal will have to fork out nothing less than R10 million.

Hunt credits the player though for his impact so far, however their budget forces them to sign only free agents.

“Our players are free. He’s a good boy and he’s played at the highest level and he has won many things,” Hunt concluded.

The nimble-footed has been guilty of a few glaring misses in front of goal, but he was key to them clinching the Telkom Knockout title, ending as the tournament's top-scorer.
