Former FKF boss Sam Nyamweya has described the mother of ex-Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech as a ‘strong pillar’.

Mama Oliech, as she is commonly known, passed away on Friday at her home in Lavington after developing difficulty in breathing.

Nyamweya, under whose reign as the football chief Oliech hit the headlines, paid tribute to the late Mama Oliech.

“My heartfelt condolences to the Oliech’s family. She was a strong, and a pillar,” said Nyamweya in a statement obtained by Goal.

“I remember when the French Embassy wanted to refuse or delayed in giving her visa to go to France for treatment, I had to storm the Embassy and couldn't leave till we got it."

Oliech is considered as one of the record goal-scorer Kenya has ever produced besides holding the country’s all-time record with 34 goals.
