Rangers coach Steven Gerrard has taken inspiration from United States president Donald Trump in refuting rumours he could be the next Newcastle United manager.
The Liverpool legend has been linked with the Premier League coaching job recently vacated by his former boss Rafael Benitez and also the head role at Derby County following Frank Lampard's return to Chelsea.
But the 39-year-old emphatically denied speculation he was considering a move to Tyneside, using a quote made famous by Trump.
"Fake news. Not that I’m aware of," Gerrard said to the Scotland's Daily Record .
Gerrard snared his first senior coaching role at Rangers in May 2018 following a stint in charge of Liverpool's youth teams.
In his first full season at Ibrox, he led the club to second position in the league behind city rivals Celtic - finishing nine points in arrears of the leaders but 11 ahead of third place.
The former Reds midfielder is now preparing Rangers for a two-leg Europa League qualifier against Gibratar's St Joseph, starting with the away contest on Tuesday.
If the Gers succeed against in their first playoff, they will need to defeat two more teams over two legs to qualify for the group stage of Europe's second-biggest club tournament.
Gerrard wasn't taking progression in the competition for granted but said the focus will be on his team performs, not the artificial surface they will compete on in Gibraltar.
"How difficult it will be will depend on how well we play and if and how well we progress depends on the luck of the draw as well," Gerrard said.
"The pitch causes us no concerns. My players should be used to artificial surfaces given the amount of times we played on them at places such as Livingston, Kilmarnock and Hamilton last year. We won’t be using this as an excuse, that’s for sure.
"We have seen the two games St Joseph’s have played in the competition so far. They will be well drilled. We always lay it on the line it is about us."
The second leg against St Joseph will be played at Ibrox on July 18.
