Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) poured cold water on the rumours surrounding them being interested in Brendan Gan.
In an statement made by JDT's Sports Director, Alistair Edwards - reports that Brendan is being pursued by the reigning Super League champions is untrue.
"Although we understand that players want to come to JDT and any interest from us might drive up their values in negotiations with other clubs, but Brendan is not in our plans. It is because we already have players like Safiq Rahim, Harris Harun, Afiq Fazail, Nazmi Faiz and a midfielder from Spain as well as Amirulhadi, Shakir Shaari and Gary Steven Robbat."
"So, there's no place for him at JDT. So I would advise him to stop using JDT's name for publicity.
"In 2014 Bojan Hodak want Brendan Gan, but His Royal Highness didn't agree to it and to this day he really is not in our plans. Three years have passed since then and I can confirm that JDT have made no contact with Brendan," said Edwards in his statement.
While to an extent, Edwards has his points on the high number of midfielders - it still shy away from the fact that of those named, only Safiq, Afiq, Nazmi and Amirulhadi are regulars this season for JDT. Although granted, Edwards could have been speaking with the broader picture in mind.
Shakir has been given an appearance here and there but haven't featured much in Benjamin Mora's plans. Gary has not played at all this season although he has been seen to be back in training with the squad recently. As for Hariss, he's out on loan to S-League side, Home United.
Brendan is not currently attached to any club having left Kelantan in 2016 and is on the mend from his Ankle Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury back in Australia. The midfielder can be seen working his way back to fitness and while JDT may not be interested - Brendan would not be short of suitors.
