David Owino out of Zesco United squad to face Mbabane Swallows

Kenyan defender David Owino will miss Zesco United’s must-win Caf Champions League match against Mbabane Swallows.

Owino did not travel together with the rest of the squad that also has Kenyan internationals, Jesse Were and Anthony Akumu for their trip to Swaziland.

The dependable defender picked an injury in Zesco United’s league match against Zanaco and as such will miss the game alongside Simon Silwimba due to injury.

Owino’s absence will be a big blow to coach George Lwandamina, who is yet to pick a win in Group D and anything less than maximum points will see the Team ya Ziko crash out of the top-tier competition.

Zesco are bottom of the group with only two points, eight behind leaders Etoile Sportive du Sahel, who are followed by Primeiro de Agosto on five points with Swallows sitting third with four points.

Zesco United travelling squad: Jacob Banda- GK, Solomon Sakala, Fackson Kapumbu, Marcel Kasongo Kalonda, Anthony Akumu, Misheck Chaila, John Ching'andu, Kondwani Mtonga, Lazarus Kambole, Enock Sabumukama, Jesse Jackson Were, Dieudonne Ntibahezwa, Bornwell Silengo, Jackson Mwanza, Maybin Kalengo, Mwape Mwelwa, Lameck Banda, Shemmy Mayembe.
