Da Gama: Bafana Bafana were unbelievably good against Guinea-Bissau

South Africa stand-in coach Owen Da Gama cut a happy figure following his side's 3-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau in an international friendly game on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Kermit Erasmus, Percy Tau as well as Andile Jali helped Bafana Bafana overcome the African Wild Dogs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Europe-based duo Erasmus and Kamohelo Mokotjo, who were making their return to the national team, both started for Bafana.

"Look, it was a difficult ball to juggle, we had to integrate Mokotjo, Erasmus and others into the setup," Da Gama told the media.

"We saw a lot you know. It augurs well for our preparations. What is more important is to understand which players fit in the positions. I think it was unbelievably good," he added.

"All our focus this week was on combination play, that is our game. If we are in possession nobody can take it away from us," Da Gama continued.

"Yes, we were sluggish at times, but it's about intergration and building an understanding amongst the players. It was a positive result," he concluded.

Bafana will take on Angola's Palancas Negras in another international friendly match at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London on Tuesday.
