Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Chippa United have confirmed their interest in Orlando Pirates players Meshack Maphangule and Abel Mabaso.

The two players, who both joined the Buccaneers prior to the start of the current campaign have struggled for game time.

Forward Maphangule and defender-come-midfielder Mabaso, joined the Soweto giants from Black Leopards and Chippa respectively.

Both players had a good 2017/18 season with Maphangule inspiring Leopards to PSL promotion, while Mabaso helped the Chilli Boys retain their status in the elite league.

However, the duo has found it difficult to break into Bucs coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic’s side since their arrival at the Houghton-based side.

Maphangule has made only one appearance for the Buccaneers, while Mabaso is yet to make his official debut but has been featuring for the team in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC).

According to Daily Sun, both players will be loaned out to the Chilli Boys during the upcoming January transfer window.

Chippa club chairman Mpengesi confirmed that they will look to sign the two players.

“I have noticed that they are not playing. They are both good, talented players. We will talk to them to see if they are available in January,” Mpengesi told the publication.

Mabaso is facing stiff competition for a place in the Bucs starting line-up as he is competing with the likes of Musa Nyatama, Ben Motshwari and Xola Mlambo in central midfield.

Maphangule, who is a versatile player has faced stiff competition from the likes of Vincent Pule Luvuyo Memela and Thembinkosi Lorch, while Thabo Qalinge is also fighting for the same position.

The publication also revealed that defender-come-midfielder Asavela Mbekile is also likely to be loaned out to any interested club.

Bucs signed the 31-year-old player after he was released by Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

The former Moroka Swallows midfield maestro was linked with AmaZulu FC, before he joined the Buccaneers.
