Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy has been fined R50 000 fine by the PSL Disciplinary Committee for calling referee Phillip Tinyani a 'cow' in October 2017.
The 40-year-old mentor wasn't happy at all by Tinyani's officiating following his side's 2-1 loss to Chippa United.
In a statement issued by the PSL, McCarthy has been ordered to pay R25 000 effective immediately, while the other portion is suspended for the remainder of the season.
Should McCarthy make similar comments before the end of the season, he will have to pay the rest of the remaining amount.
Meanwhile, National First Division (NFD) side Mbombela United have been docked three points for fielding an ineligible player. They have also been fined R50 000, half of which is suspended for 24 months.
Mbombela fielded Mxolisi Mayongo against Tshakumatsha Ta Madzivhadila. Mayongo has subsequently been slapped with a four-match ban.
"National First Division club Royal Eagles have been fined R40 000 (R20 000 of it suspended for a period of 12 months) for failing to submit their Security Operational Plan to the PSL five days before their match against University of Pretoria," PSL said in a statement.
"Mbombela United had three points deducted against them and fined R50 000 (R25 000 suspended for 24 months) for fielding an ineligible player (Mxolisi Mayongo)."
"The incident happened during their league match against Tshakumatsha Madzivhadila. Mayongo has been suspended for four matches," the statement said.
