Caf Confederation Cup: Roberto Oliveira vows to take Rayon Sports to quarters

Rayon Sports coach Roberto Oliveira strongly believes that they have the best chance ever to reach the quarters of Caf Confederation Cup.

The Brazilian coach was left impressed as his side pulled a shock 2-1 win against Gor Mahia in a match played at Kasarani on Sunday. Goals from Bimenyimana and Erick Rutanga were enough to hand the Rwandan side a win against the Kenyan champions, who needed a draw to sail to the last sixteen.

The win for Rayon Sports coupled with Yanga’s shock 2-1 win against USM Alger, has left coach Oliveira believing that they are strong favourites to reach the last 16. “When we came to Nairobi, we did not have any chance, everyone had written us off.

“We pulled one of the greatest win here (Nairobi) and I can assure you that the ball is now in our court to complete the job at home. All we need is a win against Yanga because we have no problem of who between Gor Mahia or USM, will join us in the quarters from the Group.

“Gor Mahia and USM Alger will have their own battle to decide so our work is to win against Yanga. I am very happy that we managed to beat Gor Mahia, a very top team, with good players and a top coach. It was a very nice win,” Oliveira told Goal.

The final round of matches will be played on August 29 with Gor Mahia playing away to USM Alger while Rayon Sports will host Yanga at home.
